![]() Recovered projectiles fired into media look almost new, except without the red tip and with striations from the rifling I would not expect any expansion or explosion with these, especially at low velocities-it's not at all what they're made for. 30-06 sized case using win brass I ran 13.5gr trailboss under a 208 amax seated. 300 whisper, 300 blackout using twist rates of 7-8 inchs in order to stabilize these long heavies so 10in isnt really. I need to do bench rest testing, but from an informal rest and not trying as hard as I could using a Gisele (sp?) trigger, and an Eotech I was able to manage a 6-round, ~2" group lasered at 50 yards. How are the 208 AMAX so great when they are a boat tail. Perhaps best of all, this load is extremely accurate. The spent casings for the Remingtons were HOT enough to burn, something I hadn't noticed before, whereas my pet loads' casings were merely warm right out of the gun. Its fun to play with, but accuracy and consistent velocity. TB often has issues keeping the velocity consistent. There are a few tricks to working up and shooting subsonic loads. At sea level, stability is iffy in a 1 in 12' twist, but a 1 in 10' twist should work. I was able to shoot this load through my same Noveske build side by side with factory Remington subsonic loads and factory American Eagle sub loads both with the 220gr SMK FMJBT bullet it was significantly quieter than both, which were about the same. 13-15 grains of Trailboss will be subsonic or close with the 208 AMAX in. Feels and cycles just the same, brass lands in the same place (very consistently) and is extremely quiet. I started at 9.4grs, which worked very well but I found that about 1 of 15 or so would go supersonic, so I dropped it down to 9.2grs and I find it to be ideal (~285ft alt., ~50 degrees Fahrenheit when shooting 9.2grs last). This is certainly my "pet load" for this gun and bullet. Magpul PMag and steel 5-round AR Stoner magazines Hunting ? no expansion deeper penetration clean holes ? depends but for the few Ill use the Lehigh rds or go up to 125NBT hyperĨ" Noveske Barrel, 1/7 twist, matched gas block and tube Ĭheap, fun, accurate, no deflecting issues. Then I loaded the 247 Missouri powder coated bullets with 10.0 and 10.2 grs of H 110 and it works well.īest Accuracy and ejects great out of both 8 and 16" bbl. I had issues with the SMK 220 grs and 208 a max People talk about H110 is not a subsonic powder. With 300-MP and a magnum primerĮvery shot is supersonic. This is the Hodgdon 110 load for the 208 AMax with a I've never used H110 but this stuff was very inconsistent in Rifle primers they will be supersonic every shot. If you follow Hodgdon's data for 110 including magnum It is close but slightly faster burn rate. I read that this powder is basically H110.
