Really strange behavior considering these servers are located in various locations. No matter which nperf server I connect to, I consistently get a 27mpbs download speed, and the upload speed varies from 300mbps to 700mbps. Then I discovered something really interesting trying to test my speed with. It showed buffer bloat levels so high that it couldn't even give a grade, and the speeds were nowhere close to what I get from (AT&T's recommended speed test.) (Lag, lowered quality, etc.)Īt first, I thought there might be a bufferbloat problem with the BGW-320-500 gateway I have based on some really flaky results from the DSLReports speed test. Very fast, but still not nearly what I paid for/expect with Gigabit internet.I've been testing my AT&T fiber connection to troubleshoot some weird behavior on zoom calls. UPDATE: I disabled Windows auto-tuning and Large Send Offload and my speed increased considerably! It's now about 400mbps downloads and 700mbps uploads. However, I am not familiar with troubleshooting those and have no idea what to look at/may be the problem.Īny help is appreciated! If you need any more information, please let me know and I will try my best to provide. * I have tried switching to a different DNS without successīased on the above information, it would seem that something is wrong with my PC's network settings or its Ethernet adapter. * I have tried speed testing using various sites, such as Google, Ookla, and Wave G, results are similar. * My ISP tech has inspected the connection and was able to get 1000mbps downloads and uploads when connecting his computer directly to the modem. * All firmware, drivers, and OS updated to the latest version. * I am using Dynamic IP connection with DHCP on. * My computer's Ethernet adapter is the default Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I218-V adapter that came with the computer. My old router is an Asus Rt-AC68U and my new router is a TpLink Archer C5400. * My Ethernet cables are brand new and Cat6. This seems to show that something is throttling my Ethernet download speeds. On my Ethernet connection though, I am hitting around 100mbps downloads and 700mbps uploads. On 5Ghz Wifi, I can get about 460mbps downloads and 670mbps uploads, which is not ideal, but pretty good and understandable for Wifi. Problem: I am a user of the Wave G Gigabit internet and I have been noticing slower than expected internet speeds, especially through Ethernet. This is the first time I am using this subreddit, so I do apologize in advance if I am making any mistakes. Having tried a few methods to resolve the situation, I have decided to turn to Reddit for help. I have been experiencing some issues with my Ethernet connection.
